With the extreme fire risks accurately forecast for June and July now in the rearview mirror, the August forecast for southwestern Utah is gradually improving. However, red flag warnings continue to be noticed as high temperatures and moderate to high winds combine to keep the risk of wildfire elevated, in spite of recent rains. Please continue to exercise caution when using power tools, trailering, or engaging in any outside activity that has the potential to spark a fire.
The Utah Department of Natural Resources has rescinded Stage 2 Fire restrictions in Washington County; Stage 1 fire restrictions remain in place.
