February 28 Community Workshop Well Attended.

The first 2026 Community Wildfire Preparedness Workship presented by the DV-CFC and DVFR Fire Marshal John Hennessey at DVFR Station 13 was

was held Saturday, February 28, with approximately 72 residents in attendance. Another workshop is being planned for May for those not able to attend the February 28th meeting. Thank you to all who attended, and to the community for the transformative work being done to mitigate fire risk. Please remember to report your hours and any expenses you pay to contractors to mitigate your property and/or harden your home against wildfire. The meeting included a special guest appearance. Thank you to Heber Heyder, Washington County Fire Warden, and DNR, for making Smokey available. Rumor has it that this was his first appearance in Washington County!
