Introduction
The Western Fire District Interim Board (WFDIB) has been established by Washington County to develop comprehensive financial and operational recommendations for the new Western Fire Special Service District to consider when it begins operations in 2024. The Western Fire Special Service District will oversee the consolidation of three existing emergency fire response Special Service Districts into one district, with the goal of providing effective, timely, and sustainable fire and EMS response by trained and certified first responders under a single, unified command structure. Covering an area of approximately 90 square miles, the district’s boundaries will include the communities of Diamond Valley, Dammeron Valley, Veyo, Gunlock, and Brookside.
